In chapter 10 is a very influencial section in the book of another story where Janie supposedly finds this wonderful man. This man she feels like she has known for a long time and he comes in the store and jokes with her and teaches her to play checkers. This man's name is Virgible Woods but everyone calls him Tea Cake. This man treats Janie with respect and takes her fishing and hunting. Finally, they consider marriage and oddly this would be her 3rd marriage.

There are a few scenes in these chapters that come across to the reader as key points. There is on e that sticks out in my mind especially when Joe Starks appears out of no where and tells Janie he would like to make her his wife. When Janie gets into an arguement with her husband about wether she wants to stay or leave. So finally Janie makes the decision to go with Joe Starks down to this new settlement of all colored people. This also showed Janie's separation from nanny and how she respected her still, but wanted to live her own life. Janie at this point in the book it shows her independence.

Quote Comment from Their Eyes Were Watching God
Quote 1: This quote is stating how from when boys are just small they build their dreams (the ship) and let them out on the open ocean. Some of these dreams get within reach as life goes on and some come all the way to shore meaning they come true. Other people give up on their dreams and just watch them float along the horizon and never attempt to retrieve them. Those that are left on the horizon never leave until the watcher dies.
